Staying in Touch Newspaper

EDITORIAL DESIGN / TYPOGRAPHY

OVERVIEW
Staying in Touch was an editorial project focusing on the effects of the COVID pandemic on human relationships. With the lockdown in full swing in April of 2020, friends and family found themselves to be increasingly anxious and isolated due to growing fears over the virus. This period in time saw a big decline in mental wellness and a slight uptick in the suicide rate among young people.

OBJECTIVE
The project aimed to find new ways of bringing people together and sharing stories while shedding light on the loneliness epidemic observed in the U.S.

SOLUTION
The final piece included interviews with four people with no previous knowledge of each other. Image rendering and illustrations were laid out in a way that felt as if someone put this in a journal. Illustrations and handwritten pull quotes and letters add to this theme.
